   About North West Hospice Sligo

Founded in 1986, the origins of North West Hospice lie in the pain and suffering of people and their families in the face of terminal illness, especially cancer. The practical response of our Community for the very seriously ill was the setting up of North West Hospice. Since then, our Community has invested heavily in the Hospice through fundraising efforts.

North West Hospice has been to the forefront of palliative care in Ireland being one of the first to provide home care on a 7 day week basis and the opening of the In- patient facility in 1998. More recently and in partnership with the HSE, North West Hospice now provides a full range of consultant-led palliative care services.

Patients and their loved ones are at the heart of the Hospice and those of us who have been touched by sadness have rallied to the cause.

The real heroes of the Hospice movement are those supporters who brave the elements to gather support from a generous and giving Community.  Your support is as relevant today as it was back in 1986 as the Hospice seeks to improve the range and quality of services and support to patients and their families.
